The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is proud to present Leading Through Legacy: A Tribute to Black Excellence, an empowering evening dedicated to celebrating the voices, talents, and stories of Black students across its secondary schools.

This student-led initiative will take place on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School, located at 1918 Whites Road, Pickering. Doors open at 5:45 p.m., and all attendees must present valid student ID upon entry.

The event promises an inspiring lineup, headlined by two distinguished guest speakers:

  • Bernice Carnegie, an acclaimed international speaker, author, and storyteller, will share her powerful journey shaped by her family's century-long legacy in Canada.
  • Karl Subban, celebrated educator and father of three NHL players, will offer insights from his book "How We Did It: The Subban Plan for Success in Hockey, School and Life."

Students are encouraged to bring their brilliance, collaborate, and connect with peers in a space designed to uplift and empower Black excellence.
